The Check Enforcement Program is designed to handle dishonored checks marked "insufficient or non-sufficient funds," "account closed," and "no account" that are passed in Multnomah County.

Check Writers

The Check Enforcement Program accepts only checks with documented notification by the victims to the check writer. If you wish to pay after you received notice from our program please send the payment to:

Payments

If you have failed to pay a dishonored check, but you have not yet received a notice from our program, we recommend that you contact the merchant or store and arrange to make payment.

If you have satisfied your obligation with the merchant and you still receive notice from our Check Enforcement Program, please mail documentation that the payment was received by the victim or filing party before the date of the notice.

Merchants

The Check Enforcement Program assists merchants in recovering losses from intentionally written dishonored checks.

The program is FREE to all victims who accept a dishonored check within Multnomah County.

Our primary goal is to assure full restitution for the victim - including any bank charges - without adding to the financial burden of the criminal justice system. Read more about the Check Enforcement Program.
