The security screening process can take an extra 15-30 minutes. Please arrive early to allow extra time for the security screening, which creates long lines of people waiting to enter the courthouse.
Do not bring the following items to the courthouse.
- Firearms (even if you have a permit)
- Pocket knives
- Leatherman type multi-use tools
- Scissors, knitting needles, and other pointed or sharp items
- These items are not allowed in the courthouse. Courthouse security staff will NOT hold unauthorized items for return at the end of the day.
There is no lost and found.
Before leaving the security area, please remember to retrieve all of your possessions. Security personnel are not responsible for items left in the security screening areas.
You will be required to pass through a metal detector.
When you enter the courthouse, you will pass through a security screening process similar to what you might experience in an airport. In order for this process to be as efficient as possible, please cooperate with security staff and law enforcement officer’s requests and directions.
Use the containers provided at the screening point.
Empty your pockets and place the contents in a container provided for you at a screening checkpoint. Remove your shoes, watches, large pieces of jewelry, and belts and place them in containers before entering the metal detector. This will save time and help you avoid additional screening.
Hand-carried items will be inspected by security.
Purses, briefcases, laptops and laptop cases, backpacks, coats, and other hand-carried items will be inspected with x-ray screening equipment and may be subject to additional screening as requested by security staff and law enforcement officers.
