DA’s Priorities
1. Tackle Violent Crime and Protect Neighborhoods
No one should feel unsafe in their neighborhood. While the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office emphasizes aggressive prosecution of violent offenders, we also recognize that what impacts most people’s day-to-day livability and sense of safety is repeat offenders committing lower-level non-violent crimes. MCDA targets problems with strategic data-oriented prosecution and community engagement. Getting prosecutors out from behind their desks and into the community to hear directly from you is key to solving the problems that matter.
2. Put Victims at the Center
The surest path to accountability for defendants and restoration for victims is to center crime victims in the criminal justice process. This office engages with victims to meaningfully inform them about and involve them in the critical stages of a criminal case and support them along the way.
3. Rebuild Trust and Transparency
Public safety, and faith in the public safety system, comes from all law enforcement partners rowing in the same direction. Our goal is to strengthen our collaboration with police, the courts, and our communities to ensure effective and efficient outcomes for everyone.
