DA Mike Schmidt announces 13.5-year sentence for man who breaks into home and sexually assaults child and her mother
PORTLAND, Ore. – Today DA Mike Schmidt announced a 13.5-year sentence for an offender who committed multiple crimes, sexually assaulting a woman and her daughter last year in Gresham among them.
The offender, Alfredo Guzman-Padilla broke into the victim’s Wood Village home one morning in January of 2020. Guzman-Padilla then sexually assaulted the woman and her daughter, aged five at the time. Guzman-Padilla vacated the premises before deputies arrived, however was identified and apprehended hours later outside an apartment complex near where the break-in and assault took place.
Guzman-Padilla pled to two counts of Sex Abuse in the First Degree and one count of Burglary in the First Degree. The two counts of Sex Abuse I correspond to his abuse of both mother and daughter. Guzman-Padilla also pled to two counts of misdemeanor public indecency for conduct committed and charged prior to his arrest.
The victim in this case addressed the court with a victim impact statement, which read “One day you will have to face not only the horrific attack you did to me… but the horrific attack you placed upon my Daughter.” The statement went on to say “You did not win. It was not ok and what is ok is you being put right where you belong.”
