Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt today met with ATU 757 leaders to discuss the prosecution of crimes involving TriMet. The DA provided an opportunity for ATU 757 to share cases of concern. He also shared the latest data on prosecution rates for crimes involving TriMet in Multnomah County, which show that 76% of TriMet cases referred to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office (from January 2015 through February 2023) were issued for prosecution.

“I appreciated the opportunity to speak with ATU 757 leadership today, to hear their concerns, and to address their questions directly,” said DA Schmidt. “I am committed to partnering with the union and TriMet to prioritize the safety of our public transit system and all those who work to keep us moving. I look forward to ongoing communication and our continued working relationship.”
