Jury Finds Nathaniel Freeman Guilty in Double Murder Case

August 11, 2023

Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt today announced that a Multnomah County jury delivered a guilty verdict for Nathaniel Curtis Freeman, 34, for the fatal shootings of Ny’Cole Griffin and Morgan “Max” Victor in two separate incidents last spring.

The trial took place in front of Judge David Rees from July 24 to August 4, with Senior Deputy District Attorney Nathan Vasquez and Deputy District Attorney Brad Kalbaugh as prosecutors. The 12-person jury delivered the verdict on August 4, finding Freeman guilty of:

  • Two counts of Murder in the First Degree with a Firearm
  • Three counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon with a Firearm

Freeman was also found guilty of three counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm as part of a bench trial.

Freeman is currently in custody at the Multnomah County Detention Center and is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Rees on November 30.

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office thanks the Portland Police Bureau for their assistance with this case.
