James shot three people, one of whom included Markell Jones who later died at a hospital. Thirteen shell casings found at the scene matched the firearm recovered from James.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his face just above his neck and was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Officers located and arrested Lucas near the area of the shooting. His firearm was recovered.
Harpole is currently in custody at the Multnomah County Jail without bail. No additional information can be released by the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office at this time.

In the late summer of 2020, Muhammed traveled to Portland, Oregon with the intent to violently engage in area protests. His criminal activity spanned September and October of 2020 and included four separate criminal incidents.
The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office has requested that the court hold Smith in custody without bail pending the disposition of these criminal charges.
